A number of design enhancements are producing impressive results on all Hatteras models, and the 60 Convertible in particular. With 1,550-hp Caterpillar C-30 engines, the 60 Convertible now cruises at 34 knots and tops out at over 37. The primary design change appears in the aft keel area where deep, finely tuned tunnels have allowed Hatteras engineers to reduce the shaft angle and increase thrust tremendously. In addition, all 60 Convertibles now feature sea chests as standard equipment. Not only do these simplify maintenance for the captain by centralizing most thru-hulls into one location, they also improve performance by reducing the number of fittings that interrupt the natural flow of water around the hull. A new enclosed flybridge option offers improved visibility both fore and aft, along with the most spacious and attractive layout available in its class. Modifications to the hull bottom have reduced the draft from 5'11" to 5'1", even with the enclosed bridge. Keep the standard open flybridge arrangement and you'll enjoy a 4'11" draft. Either way, the new tunnel-based hull design is sure to please, thanks to its improved performance in close quarters and its boosted top-end that now reaches 37 knots in full battle gear.
